 silienceSuniya S. Luthar is Foundation Professor of Psychology at Arizona 
 State University\, Professor Emerita at Columbia University&rsquo\;s Teach
 ers College\, and Founder and Executive Director of Authentic Connections.
  Join us for this session as she speaks about her research on vulnerabilit
 y and resilience among various populations including youth in poverty\, te
 ens in upper-middle class families\, and parents (especially mothers) in h
 igh-achieving\, stressful communities. In addition to numerous peer-review
 ed journal articles\, Dr. Luthar has published several books and has been 
 Chair of a grant review study section at the National Institutes of Health
 . She has held several leadership positions in science\, currently elected
  to be President of the American Psychological Association&rsquo\;s APA&rs
 quo\;s Division 7 (Developmental). Dr. Luthar is a Fellow of the American 
 Association for Psychological Science and is also Fellow of the American P
 sychological Association&rsquo\;s (APA) Divisions 7 and 37. From APA\, she
  received a Dissertation Award and the Boyd McCandless Young Scientist Awa
 rd. Other awards include a Research Scientist Development (K) Award from t
 he National Institutes of Health\, an American Mensa Foundation Award for 
 Excellence in Research on Intelligence\, and an award for Integrity and Me
 ntorship from the Society for Research in Child Development's Asian Caucus
 . Luthar&rsquo\;s work is frequently cited in major news outlets in the US
  including the New York Times\, The Washington Post\, The Wall Street Jour
 nal\, The Atlantic\, NPR\, PBS\, and CNN\, as well as overseas\, in Europe
 \, Asia\, and Australia.
